Eleven Oregonians were honored for their efforts to fight the stigma of mental illness and reduce discrimination against persons with mental illness. An awards ceremony was held in October at the State Capitol.
The winners of the 2000 Mental Health Awards for Excellence are Robert C. Beckett, Josephine County mental health director; Laura Duncan-Allen, Work Unlimited, Benton County; Dr. Sally Godard, Salem Hospital, Medical Director of Psychiatry; Dr. Ron Heintz, Office of Mental Health Services and Oregon Health Sciences University; Jeff Krolick, Options for Southern Oregon; Don Leslie, past president of NAMI, Lane County; Rachel Post, Portland State University; Robert Roy, Trillium Family Services; James Russell, Mid-Valley Behavioral Care Network; Barbara Trione, Accountable Behavioral Health Alliance; and Dr. Bill Wilson, Oregon Health Sciences University.
