PRACTICE GUIDELINES There are a number of clinical practice guidelines available, many of which are endorsed by various professional organizations and most are accessible through the Internet. Most of these guidelines can be accessed through the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality’s (AHRQ) National Guideline Clearinghouse at http://www.guideline.gov/. Accountable Behavioral Health Alliance (ABHA) encourages providers to utilize these guidelines as appropriate to their practice. ABHA does not specifically prescribe the use of any set of guidelines as a standard for practice, but recognizes their value and encourages providers to make use of them as appropriate to assist in clinical decision-making processes. Additionally, ABHA endorses the documents included on this page for use by clinical providers as practice guidelines. These guidelines are met to assist providers with supplemental criteria for delivering Recovery oriented clinical services to ABHA members. These guidelines are not prescriptive in nature, but are intended to assist providers with treatment concepts consistent with the Recovery model of mental health care. The Recovery model recognizes that client needs are unique to each individual. This concept is outlined in the ABHA Recovery Goal Statement (included), which is intended to be utilized as a primary guideline to assist with clinical decision-making processes. To be consistent with the goal of delivering Recovery based services, this page will be evaluated for it’s usefulness and updated with new information on an ongoing basis. ABHA providers are encouraged to download and use these documents as appropriate to their clinical practice.
